Cristiano Ronaldo Signs for Juventus

Ronaldo Juventus Transfer

The Ronaldo Juventus Transfer

Earlier today, Juventus tweeted that they had signed Cristiano Ronaldo. This is a huge deal for Juventus and for Real Madrid. Today we are going to be looking at why this deal could have happened. To stay updated on future posts, follow my Twitter here, like my Facebook page here, and join my Discord here.

So why would Ronaldo want to leave a team that has won the last 3 Champions League titles? On May 31, former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane announced his resignation from managing the club. On June 12, Spain manager Julen Lopetegui was announced as the new manager for Real. The next day, the Spanish FA fired him. The reason all of this matters is because the reason Ronaldo might have wanted to be sold could be because he does not like Real’s new manager. He could have wished that they were still going to be managed by Zidane. We don’t know for certain why Ronaldo left Madrid, but we do know why Juventus bought him.

Juventus paid 117 million dollars to buy Ronaldo, so obviously, they really wanted him. He will join Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala, and Giorgio Chiellini. With this lineup, Juventus has the potential to win the Champions League as well as the Serie A title.

It will be interesting to see Ronaldo in a new jersey this season, but it will be a new challenge for him and will make the soccer world more interesting. Look for previews of the Champions League and other soccer games throughout the year.

Ousmane Dembele’s Record-Breaking Barcelona Deal

Ousmane Dembele was a key part of Borussia Dortmund‘s squad last season, and he could be changing his position so Barcelona can fit the young player into their team. Dembele signed a 5 year deal with the club today. The initial fee for the transfer is 105 million euros, but that could rise up to 145 million euros, nearly double Barça’s previous record signing,  Luis Suarez from Liverpool in 2014 for 80 million euros.

To stay updated on soccer transfers and other sports, follow my Twitter and like my facebook page.

Dembele could be forced to play left winger because his normal right winger position is occupied by Lionel Messi. Barcelona would also rather play Dembele at LW because they lost Neymar this summer.

Dembele was born in Vernon, France on May 15, 1997. He started his club career with Rennes on September 6, 2015 for the first team squad. He scored 12 goals in 26 appearances for the French club, and then he was sold to Borussia Dortmund for 15 million euros. He only played one season at the German club, but he scored 6 goals in the Bundesliga, 2 in cups, and 2 in the Champions League. Dembele is expected to be one of the best players in the future. Players like this are called wonder boys or wonder kids.

Barcelona made a great decision to get rid of Neymar while still getting a great replacement. They made money because they sold Neymar for around 200 million and getting Dembele for 100 million. They can still compete for the La Liga and Champions League this season while having the money to spend during future transfer periods next winter or summer.

His cards are 90 overall CM with the best stat being 88 pace, shooting, and passing, 93 overall CF with the best stat being 91 shooting and passing, and an 86 overall CM card with 86 passing.

Bold Premier League Predictions for 2017/2018: 1st through 5th

In soccer, there are numerous leagues throughout the world. After all, soccer is the biggest sport in the world because it is played in almost every country, unlike American football. The five biggest leagues are Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, and Calico A. But the Premier League is by far the most popular and tightest. Here are my predictions on the Premier League for this season. Please check out my facebook page and follow my twitter.

1st Place: Manchester United

Most people think that Chelsea or Manchester City will win the Premier League this year, but I think that Manchester United will win it because they have made upgrades this year that might actually perform. Romelu Lukaku scored 25 goals in the Premier League last season for Everton and was probably the only reason why they finished 7th. Without him this year, they will probably finish 12th or lower. But he proved in his first game with Manchester United that he will continue to score, netting 2 in their 4-0 rout of West Ham.

Key Player: Paul Pogba

Another reason why they could win is because Paul Pogba will have a much better season. In his first season at Old Trafford, Pogba might have felt that he had to stay back on defense more because of their lack of defensive midfielders. But with the addition of CDM Nemanja Matic this season, Pogba can stay forward and be the playmaker that Manchester United expected they would get when they bought him last summer. Last season he scored 5 goals in the Prem, but this year he could score 10 and get more assists.

2nd Place: Manchester City

Manchester City will have a lot of expectations this season after being the busiest team in the Premier League in the transfer window. They signed Kyle Walker, Danilo, Benjamin Mendy, Ederson, Bernardo Silva, and Douglas Luiz. They will be neck and neck with Manchester United all season, but I think Man U will win the league simply because they will beat Manchester City in head-to-head games.

Key Player: Kevin De Bruyne

De Bruyne did not have a good season last year, scoring just 6 goals in the Premier League, even though he played 35 of the 38 games. For Manchester City to win games, he needs to start scoring goals consistently, because their strikers cannot do everything.

3rd Place: Arsenal

Arsenal was also busy in the transfer window, but more because of the quality they signed. They obtained Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon. Lacazette scored 129 goals in his career at Lyon, and he will need to keep netting them for Arsenal because Alexis Sanchez may not be returning to the club. They also signed Sead Kolanisic for free, which will help because he could be their starting left back.

Key Player: Mesut Ozil

Lacazette may need to score goals, but he needs someone to pass the ball to him. That would be Ozil. He was a decent goal scorer last season, but on a team like Arsenal, he needs to be one of the players setting up the strikers. If he can make chances for Lacazette and Olivier Giroud, he will be more impactful than he was last season.

4th Place: Chelsea

Chelsea won the league last season, but they didn’t do that much to upgrade their squad, unlike other teams. They signed Alvaro Morato, Tiemoue Bakayoko, and Antonio Rudiger. But they sold Nemanja Matic, Juan Cuadrado, Asmir Begovic, and Nathan Ake. And Diego Costa will most likely be leaving the club. Chelsea needs all of their players from last season to play as good as they did to win the league, and that is very hard to do. So I believe that Chelsea will drop down in the table this season.

Key Player: Alvaro Morata

With Costa most likely heading out, Morata needs to step up in the striker role. He scored 15 goals in La Liga last season, but the Premier League is a much more difficult league. He will need to live up to his transfer fee of 65 million euros.

5th Place: Liverpool

Liverpool signed some good talent this summer, including Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson, and Dominic Solanke for free. Salah was a great player for Roma, 29 goals in two seasons in Rome. He will be a player to watch for throughout the season.

Key Player: Roberto Firmino

Firmino will need to play well again this season after scoring 11 goals last season. He will also need to play well because he and Daniel Sturridge will be competing for the job of starting striker.

His first card is from 1990, which is a 90 overall striker card with the best stat being 94 pace. Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho was one of the best skillers in soccer, always confusing the defenders and then bursting past them. Ronaldinho started his career at Gremio and then went to PSG, Barcelona, A.C Milan, Flamengo, Atletico Minero, Queretaro, and Fluminense. He played a total of 17 seasons. His first card is a 91 CAM card from 2002, with his highest stat being 92 dribbling. His next card is from 2004, a 94 overall LW card with his best stat being 94 dribbling. This is his prime card. His last card is from 2010, an 89 overall CAM card with the best stat being 90 dribbling.

Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona is one of the most famous soccer players of all time, mostly because of his international career. In his club career, he played for Boca Juniors, Argentinos Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla, and Newell’s Old Boys. Maradona was unfortunately addicted to cocaine from the 1980’s until 2004, which interfered with his playing career. He had to serve a 15-month ban for failing a drug test and then left Napoli in disgrace. Maradona won the FIFA goal of the century for this goal against England:

Maradona’s first card is from 1982, a 91 overall CAM card with his best stat being 94 dribbling. His next card is from 1986, a 97 overall card with the best stat being 97 dribbling. This is his prime card. His last card is from 1989, a 95 overall CAM card with the best stat being 95 dribbling.

Thierry Henry

Henry is possibly the most famous Premier League player of all time. He started his career with Monaco, then Juventus, Arsenal, Barcelona, and New York Red Bulls. And his last card is a 90 overall LW, with the best stat being 90 pace.

Lev Yashin

Yashin was a goalkeeper and played for Dynamo Moscow his entire career. Yashin remains the only keeper ever to win the Ballon d’Or. His first card is an 89 overall from 1954, with the best attribute being 92 reflexes. His next card is 91 overall from 1960 the best stat being 93 diving and reflexes, and his last card is 94 overall from 1963, with the best stat being 96 reflexes.

Please check in to the DSW often for Parts 2 and 3 of my coverage of the Icon ratings for FIFA 18.

How Ronaldo’s Five Game Suspension May Benefit Real Madrid

Yesterday in the Spanish Supercopa, a game between La Liga winner Real Madrid and Spanish Cup winner Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo received a second yellow card to get sent off in the 82nd minute after diving in the box. He got suspended for pushing the ref after getting mad for being sent off

If you dive like you got hit in soccer when you really didn’t, the opponent receives a free kick, and the player who flops may receive a yellow card. Ronaldo had already received his first card after he took his jersey off celebrating a goal, which is automatically a card.

But Ronaldo getting sent off could teach Real Madrid a lesson.

Since Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in 2009, he has scored 285 goals for Real Madrid in 265 La Liga appearances. Real Madrid has played 304 games in La Liga in that time. That means Ronaldo has only missed 39 games with Real Madrid, just over a full season of La Liga. This 5 game suspension will teach Real Madrid how to play without Ronaldo.

Real Madrid still has great players like Bale, Benzema, Isco, Modric, Kroos, and Asensio. But sometimes they are overshadowed by Ronaldo’s talents. Last season, Real Madrid scored 106 goals in La Liga. Ronaldo scored 25 of those. The next best scorer was Alvaro Morata, who is not on the team anymore. He scored 15 goals in La Liga. So Real Madrid needs to learn that Ronaldo cannot do everything for them, and this suspension may allow Real Madrid to learn how to perform without Ronaldo.

Thank you for reading this post about Ronaldo’s suspension, Be sure to like my facebook page here and follow my Twitter. Thank you!

Reports: Barcelona Reach Agreement to Sign Philippe Coutinho

Sources close to Barcelona told ESPN Deportes Jordi Blanco that the Spanish club has acquired the 25-year-old Brazilian Philippe Coutinho from the Premier League side, Liverpool, just five days after they sold superstar Neymar to PSG for a record breaking fee. The Coutinho deal is for about 90 million euros, but it could go up to 120 million euros with bonuses, according to ESPN FC. If Coutinho signs for Barcelona, they could in competition for the La Liga and Champions League trophies, while still making money this summer because of selling Neymar.

Honestly, I don’t think that Barcelona needs Neymar to be the best team in the world. Barcelona already have Messi, who is in every conversation for best player in the world and even in history. They also have Suarez, one of the best strikers in the world. Barça also have Iniesta, Rakitic, Pique, and a team that has competed for European glory for years. The only concern that they should have is that most of their best players are getting old. Messi, Suarez, and Pique are 30; Iniesta is 33; Rakitic is 29. That’s why Coutinho is a great signing because he is young and proven to be a great player in one of the world’s toughest leagues.

Coutinho scored 34 goals and had 29 assists in 138 games for Liverpool last season. His team had a record of 75-29 (without draws) in his  4.5 seasons at Anfield.

UEFA Super Cup Preview: Real Madrid vs. Manchester United

Tomorrow the UEFA Super Cup will be played in Skopje, in the Republic of Macedonia. The UEFA Super Cup is a game played by last season’s winner of the Champions League (Real Madrid) and Europa League (Manchester United). Heres what to watch for in tomorrow’s game, which kicks off at 2:45 EDT on FS1. Make sure you check out my facebook page and follow my twitter.

Season Recap

Real Madrid won a type of treble last season, which is winning 3 competitive trophies. They won the Champions League, La Liga, and Super Cup last year. Their record in La Liga was 29-6-3. (For those unfamiliar with football records, the table reads Wins-Draws-Losses.) Real Madrid finished with 93 points, 3 ahead of second place Barcelona. In the Champions League, Real Madrid finished second in group play with 12 points in 6 games, and the top 2 from every group qualify for the knockout rounds. Borussia Dortmund finished ahead of them with 14 points, and Legia Warsaw and Sporting finished below them with 4 and 3 points respectively.

In the knockout stages until the finals, there are two games played, one at each team’s stadium. Real Madrid won both games 3-1 in the round of 16 vs Napoli from Italy or 6-2 on aggregate. They moved on to the quarterfinals vs Bayern Munich, from Germany, and Real Madrid won that round 6-3 on aggregate. In the semifinals, they played cross-town rivals Athletico Madrid and won 4-2 on aggregate. And in the final, which is just one game, they beat Juventus of Italy 4-1 to become the 2016-2017 UEFA Champions League Winners.

Manchester United came back after a disappointing 2015-2016 season in which they finished 5th in the Premier League. That season wasn’t the worst though because they won the FA Cup. Last season, they won the Community Shield, a game played between the FA Cup winner and Premier League winner from the previous season, and they won the Europa League and EFL Cup. They finished 6th in the Premier League, but their success was more in tournaments than the EPL. In the Europa League, they finished second in their group with 12 points, one behind Fenerbahce Sk. In the knockout stages, they beat Saint-Etienne of France 4-0 on aggregate to advance to the round of 16. They beat Rostov of Russia 2-1 on aggregate to move to the quarters. There they just beat Anderlecht of Belgium 3-2 on aggregate. In the semifinals, they beat Celta Vigo of Spain 2-1 on aggregate, and in the 1 game final vs. Ajax of Netherlands, they won 2-0.

Game Preview

Manchester United have not announced their lineup yet, but they have said on twitter that Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, and Marcos Rojo will miss the game through injury, and Phil Jones and Eric Bailly will miss it through suspension. Real Madrid did announce their lineup though. It is:

I predict that Real Madrid will win 3-2 with Ronaldo scoring twice and Bale once for Real Madrid, and Lukaku and Rashford scoring for Manchester United. The reason Real Madrid will win is that they have not yet had a great preseason so they will really want to get the new season started with a win and they will probably put out a better squad than Manchester United.

Transfer Rumors: Neymar, Mbappe, Ozil?

Welcome to Transfer Rumors, where we look at some of the potential transfers that could be happening soon. All of the rumors were first reported at the site Football Whispers, which rates the transfers on a scale of 1-5. 1 is unlikely, while 5 is a done deal. Here are some emerging rumors.

Neymar to PSG. Rating: 3.5

Neymar has been in the news for a while now about how he could be signing a massive deal with Paris Saint-Germain. Sources have told ESPN FC that PSG will get Neymar for $258.9 million and that the deal is for at least 4 years. Neymar is currently in China to fulfill his promotional commitments with Barcelona. But the source tells ESPN FC that Neymar will complete a medical and sign a contract with PSG in Qatar later this week.

Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid. Rating: 3.8

Mbappe is a young player from France who has played for Monaco in the Ligue 1 for 1.5 years. He has such a high value because he is only 18 and has the potential to be one of the best strikers in the world. Mbappe got a new number, and some people are saying that Monaco is making a hint that Mbappe is staying.

Mesut Ozil to Barcelona. Rating: 1.6

Ozil could be moving to Barcelona from Arsenal, but the deal would be unlikely. Ozil was the club transfer record breaker when he signed from Real Madrid in 2013. And Ozil is probably the second best player on Arsenal behind Alexis Sanchez, and with Sanchez’s future unclear, Ozil would be the star of the team if Sanchez leaves.

Bonus: Nemanja Matic to Manchester United Confirmed

Manchester United announced today that Matic is signing for the Red Devils. Matic has signed a 3-year contract and will now be reunited with manager Jose Mourinho, who coached him before at Chelsea. Matic has been linked with Man U all summer, and the deal is finally done.
